Locum Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon – Inpatient Call Coverage | IA / IL Area

We are seeking an experienced, fellowship-trained Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon to provide inpatient-only trauma call coverage at a Level III trauma program serving two closely located hospital campuses in the IA/IL region.

This is a hospital-based role only with daily OR access and strong nursing and APP support.

Schedule & Coverage

• Shifts per Month: 7–10

• Shift Length: 24-hour call

• Call Type: Inpatient only (no clinic)

• OR Access: Available daily

• Coverage Locations: Two hospital campuses (~13 miles apart)
  Provider must be willing to cover both sites

Practice Details

• Setting: Hospital-based / Inpatient only

• Trauma Level: Level III

• Responsibilities:

  • Cover orthopedic trauma cases

  • Same-day add-on cases as needed

• Number of Physicians: 8 (general ortho, spine, hand, podiatry)

• Advanced Practice Providers: 8

• APP Supervision: Not required

• Support: Nursing and APP support in OR

• Average Daily Hospital Census: 230–250

• EMR: Cerner

• Imaging, Lab & Pharmacy: Onsite

• Teaching Opportunity: No

• Telehealth / Outreach: None

Credentialing & Licensure

• Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery – Required

• Fellowship Trained in Orthopedics – Required

• Active IA and/or IL license OR IMLC – Required

• Must be experienced in orthopedic trauma

• Willingness to cover both locations required

Submission Requirements

• Clean malpractice and background history – Required

• Self-Query NPDB report (pulled within the last 30 days) – Required

• Availability to meet scheduled coverage needs

• Flights, lodging, rental car, and mileage reimbursed per policy
