Hospital, established in 1925, is an 86-bed acute and specialty care facility serving a primary service area of the western North Carolina. Hospital was named a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures by The Joint Commission for performance on the measure sets of heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care. The ranking places this Hospital in the top one-third of Joint Commission-accredited organizations in the nation reporting accountability measure performance data for the 2012 calendar year.

As a regional facility serving a multi-county area, this Hospital offers two dozen medical specialties with a medical staff of more than 100 physicians working alongside nearly 800 employees. Each year, this Hospital provides care for approximately 5,000 inpatients and 225,000 outpatients visiting the hospital and employed physician practices. The hospital serves as a medical hub for patients from around the region with more than half of the hospital's patients coming from outside the County.

Major service lines include women's care, orthopedics, general surgery, cardiology and emergency medicine.
