Orthopedic Hand Surgeon – $950,439 Base Salary + Up to $100K Sign-On – Portsmouth, Ohio
Southern Ohio Medical Center is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Orthopedic Surgeon with fellowship training in Hand Surgery to join SOMC Orthopedic Associates. This hospital-employed position offers the opportunity to lead and grow a dedicated hand surgery service within an established orthopedic group supported by a strong regional referral network.
Compensation and Benefits

Base salary of $950,439

Sign-on bonus up to $100,000

Practice Highlights

Hospital-employed position with SOMC Orthopedic Associates

Clinic hours Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Friday clinic hours from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

No evening or weekend office hours

1:4 call schedule

Six-provider orthopedic group

Eight clinical staff members, including CMAs, LPNs, and orthopedic technicians

Four front-office staff members and two surgery schedulers

Radiology and athletic training support

Typical clinic volume of 25–40 patients per day

Approximately 4–8 surgical procedures per day in the hospital

Office capabilities include X-ray, casting, injections, aspirations, and pin removal
Job Responsibilities
Carpal and cubital tunnel release
Management of compression neuropathies
Soft-tissue mass excision
Thumb CMC arthroplasty
Hand and wrist fracture care
Opportunities to expand into flexor tendon repair
Dupuytren’s contracture management
Ligamentous wrist repair
Participation in general orthopedic and community trauma care based on training and interest
Qualifications
Board certified or board eligible in Orthopedic Surgery
Completion of fellowship training in Hand Surgery
Eligible to obtain an unrestricted Ohio medical license
