A hospital-based orthopedic practice in Mason City, Iowa is seeking a Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon for locum coverage. This is a clinic + call-based assignment covering specific March and April date blocks, with ongoing potential. The provider must be comfortable managing trauma, joint replacement, and full-spectrum orthopedic surgical procedures.
This is a high-volume, well-supported orthopedic program serving a 16-county region with a population of over 200,000.Job Responsibilities
• 24-hour orthopedic call coverage
• Post-op inpatient rounding
• ED consults and inpatient consults
• Perform surgical procedures in OR
• Supervise Advanced Practice Providers
• Follow-up visits in clinic post-call
• Provide trauma and fracture care
Required procedural skills:
• Total hip, knee, and shoulder replacements
• Hand, wrist, knee, shoulder, hip, ankle & foot procedures
• Trauma injuries and fracture care
• Sports medicine procedures
Qualifications
• Active Iowa License or IMLC (REQUIRED)
• Clean Malpractice & Background History
• Must cover BOTH required date blocks
• Ability to perform full scope orthopedic surgical procedures
Working Hours
• 24-hour call coverage
• Required Coverage Blocks:
o March 13 @ 7:00 AM – March 24 @ 7:00 AM
o April 23 @ 7:00 AM – April 28 @ 7:00 AM
