Duties and Responsibilities
* Provide direct dental services to clinic patients, including examinations, diagnoses, treatment planning, delivery of care, and evaluation of treatment progress, with an emphasis on preventive dentistry
* Deliver extended dental care services as appropriate
* Maintain accurate, complete, and detailed patient records to support continuity of care, quality assurance activities, and accurate, compliant coding of diagnoses and services
* Remain aware of patient and family financial considerations and communicate appropriate billing information to support staff according to established procedures for all billable services, including those provided outside the clinic
* Communicate clearly and effectively with patients and families regarding dental conditions and treatment plans
* Maintain regularly scheduled clinic hours and be available to provide patient care throughout those hours
* Promote and participate in a team-based approach to healthcare delivery
* Collaborate with clinical leadership and professional staff in the development, review, and periodic updating of standards of care, clinical protocols, standing orders, scope-of-practice guidelines, support staff roles, and other clinical policies
* Promote dental health education within community and school settings when appropriate and mutually agreed upon
* Assist in developing training and continuing education opportunities for dental support staff
* Participate actively in quality improvement and quality assurance initiatives, including medical record reviews
* Contribute to healthcare planning efforts and maintain familiarity with organizational mission, goals, policies, and procedures relevant to clinical care
* Engage with the local community to address dental health needs and concerns
* Provide input into the evaluation of dental care providers and participate in support staff evaluations as requested
* Demonstrate commitment to clinic productivity, operational efficiency, and financial stewardship
* Attend staff meetings as appropriate
* Participate in continuing education activities to maintain licensure and enhance clinical skills
* Adhere to all applicable compliance standards and regulatory requirements
* Ensure confidentiality of patient information in accordance with policy and HIPAA regulations
* Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
* DMD or DDS degree from an accredited dental school
* Active license to practice dentistry in the state of Kentucky
* Ability to assess clinical services, evaluate operational needs, and recommend improvements to quality and workflow efficiency
* Ability to practice effectively in a rural healthcare setting utilizing available facilities and resources
* Familiarity with primary care or community health center operations preferred
