Saint Alphonsus Medical Group (SAMG) is a physician led and accountable 650+ provider multispecialty group practice that has an excellent opportunity for a Surgical Ophthalmologist (MD/DO) to join SAMG in a rural community lacking those services. In providing this support, you will obtain Idaho and Oregon medical licensure to maintain and strengthen the Health System’s program across all communities we serve. This opportunity also privileges at Saint Alphonsus Medical Center – Ontario.
Support: Saint Alphonsus Medical Center – Ontario offers a 24/7 Emergency Department, 24/7 anesthesia support, and full ancillary departments (MRI, X-ray, Ultrasound, CT, Echo and Laboratory). Saint Alphonsus Medical Group provides regional network support and outreach for surgical subspecialties including surgical oncology, colorectal surgery, upper GI surgery, orthopedics, ENT, and gynecology; Local primary care and specialty clinics, medical oncology.
Requirements:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree;
- Successful completion of an accredited ACGME/AOA Surgical Ophthalmology residency program.
- Board certification through the American Board of Surgery (ABS) or the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery (AOBS)- or obtain such certification within 5 years of employment.
- Obtain Oregon medical licensure and granting of privileges at SAMC Ontario as well as other affiliated hospitals as needed; valid controlled substance registration with Board of Pharmacy and DEA.

Interstate 84 and Oregon Highways 20/26, 30, and 201 all pass-through Ontario. Ontario/Fruitland is one hour from Boise, Idaho. The Boise Airport (BOI) is the principal airport serving the region.
