THE LOCATION — Corpus Christi, TX
Corpus Christi is Texas's Coastal Bend gem — a waterfront city where the Gulf of Mexico meets Mustang Island's pristine beaches, and the Padre Island National Seashore stretches 70 miles of undeveloped barrier island. The cost of living is well below the national average, housing is remarkably affordable, and there's no state income tax. Fishing, sailing, windsurfing, and birding at the world-class South Texas Birding Trail are everyday activities. The Texas State Aquarium and USS Lexington anchor a revitalizing downtown bayfront. Families enjoy good schools, safe neighborhoods, and a genuine small-city warmth. San Antonio is a 2-hour drive north, and Corpus Christi International Airport provides regional connectivity.
