Health Care Partners of South Carolina, a CIMS network center, is seeking a Staff Optometrist to join its team! As a member of the health care team, serves as an optometrist providing eye care services at HCPSC clinics in accordance with accepted standards of medical and optometric practice. Provide comprehensive diagnostician work, manage, and treat conditions and diseases of the human eye and visual system. Examine eyes and visual system, diagnose problems or impairments, prescribe corrective lenses, and provide treatment. May prescribe therapeutic drugs to treat specific eye conditions.
Job Responsibilities
2. Provides the highest quality of care utilizing the resources of the organization in the most prudent manner, and within the scope of incumbent’s training, experience, and skill level.
3. Cooperates and helps establish and maintain understanding and cooperation with local, state, and national organizations toward effective community health.
4. Serves as a staff optometrist by performing duties which may include conducting routine eye examinations, determining each patient’s visual acuity, field of vision and taking detailed medical histories of all patients.
5. Analyzes reports and findings of tests and examinations and diagnoses conditions.
6. Administers or prescribes treatment and medication to patients. Promote health by advising patients concerning eye health and medical conditions that affect eye health.
7. Refers patients to board-certified ophthalmologists when required for more holistic eye care.
8. Initiates and maintains complete records in EMR system.
9. Provides such other record keeping activities, such as superbills, as required.
10. Serves on various clinic committees and/or special work groups as agreed upon with the Medical Director.
11. Meet regularly with other clinic providers to review patient care issues and concerns and actively participate in Quality and Performance Improvement activities.
12. Use prudent clinical judgment when emergencies require action beyond established protocols; notify the Medical Director immediately.
13. In the event of occurrences such as; epidemic outbreaks, poisonings, fires, major accidents, deaths from unnatural causes, or other catastrophes and unusual
occurrences which threaten the welfare, safety or health of patients, will be responsible for notifying the Department of Health Services, the local health department and the local fire authority as required.
14. Will be responsible to report such occurrences (as listed above) within twenty-four hours by telephone (and confirmed in writing) to the local health officer or the Department of Health Services as required. An incident report shall be retained on file by the clinic for one year.
15. Demonstrates dependability by being punctual; maintain consistent attendance.
16. Maintains good working relations among all staff through appropriate communications.
17. Must adhere to the Health Care Partners of South Carolina Corporate Code of Conduct.
18. Must be willing to use EHR system.
19. Comply with HCPSC policies and procedures.
20. Other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist with the recruitment and screening of potential optometry personnel and specialty personnel, as requested.
2. Work with organizations in development and provision of eye education for staff and patients.
3. Participate in continuing education to provide the highest quality of care to the patient population and to maintain current licensure and board certification.
4. Participate in special studies and surveys regarding pertinent health problems of patient population.
5. Attend all trainings, meetings and conferences as required.
Qualifications
2. Possession of a current South Carolina license to practice optometry.
3. Must have a current DEA narcotic license.
4. Current CPR or Advanced Life Support certificate.
5. Must pass Occupational Health Screening.
6. Must possess a valid form of identification as listed on the U.S. Department of Justice I-9 form, verified using the E Verify system.
7. Clean DMV driving record and MACT auto insurance driving eligibility (determined by auto insurance carrier).
