Job Responsibilities

Optometrist

Responsible for full-scope primary eye care, delivered independently without assistance from techs or nurses. This will include obtaining and documenting in the EHR an ophthalmic and medical history (and reviewing that which is contained in the EHR), a comprehensive ophthalmic exam, accurate and complete diagnoses, and effective treatment plans. Treatment plans will include (as clinically indicated) the prescription of eyewear, contact lenses, oral and ophthalmic medications, and ordering ancillary testing as needed. Ancillary testing may include but not be limited to ophthalmic imaging studies (ultrasound, photos, OCT, pachymetry, etc), visual field testing, laboratory studies, and radiographic imaging (plane films, CT, and MRI). Minor surgical procedures, such as foreign body removal and papilloma excision, and pre- operative and post-operative care of various ophthalmic surgeries, is also expected. In all cases, documenting, performing, and arranging follow-up and referrals as needed is required as well.

Qualifications

Must be a licensed Optometrist
Must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Must have current BLS, Basic Life Support certification
Certification of Education - copy of diploma or transcripts
Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
DEA license and eligibility to prescribe medication
Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in Optometry
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Strong diagnostic, clinical, organizational and time-management skills
Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems
Must be a US citizen living primarily in the United States
Willingness to comply with all state and federal regulations regarding medical practice
must be willing to undergo a federal background check

Working Hours

Clinic Hours 8-5 pm, Monday - Friday, no weekends or holidays
