The Department of Ophthalmology at the LSU Health Sciences Center, School of Medicine in New Orleans is seeking applicants for one faculty position as Comprehensive Ophthalmologist.
The successful candidate will be expected to integrate clinical duties with departmental educational programs for medical students, residents and fellows.
Engagement in and support of departmental clinical research is preferred. Practice locations are situated in Bogalusa and New Orleans.

Job Responsibilities
• Perform advanced ophthalmic surgical procedures.
• Teach and mentor ophthalmology residents and medical students through clinical instruction, surgical training, and lectures.
• Participate in departmental educational activities, case conferences, and journal clubs.
• Engage in research and scholarly activities, with opportunities to lead or collaborate on clinical trials, outcomes research, or basic science projects.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based protocols and guidelines to enhance patient care.
• Participate in the on-call rotation, providing emergency ophthalmic care as needed.
Qualifications
• Board Certified/Board Eligible (or equivalent) in Ophthalmology.
• Completed an Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited residency in Ophthalmology.
• Fellowship training in a subspecialty (e.g., cornea, glaucoma, retina) is preferred but not required.
• Licensed to practice medicine in Louisiana.
• Demonstrated excellence in clinical care, teaching, and research in the field of ophthalmology.
• Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
