JOB OVERVIEW

• Job Title: Radiation Oncology Physician
• Job Type: Locum Tenens
• Location: Erie, PA
• Service Setting: Outpatient Cancer Center
• Coverage Type: Clinical + Call
• Coverage Period: 09/01/2025 – 12/31/2025
• Clinical Shift Schedule: Mon–Fri, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
• On-Call Shift Schedule: Weeknights 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM; Weekends 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM or 24-hour call
• Call Type: Telephone

COVERAGE DATES

• September 1, 2025 – December 31, 2025
• 3 weeks/month coverage (1 locum for 2 weeks/month; another for 1 week/month)

PATIENT INFORMATION

• Patient Demographics: Adults only
• Patient Volume/Census: Average 4 consults/day; average 1 inpatient
• Admissions: 0 average while on call
• Rounding: End-of-day hospital consults (as needed)
• Phone Consults: Yes
• Case Mix: Secondary neoplasms, lung, breast, male genital system, head and neck

• Specialty Backup Available: Second radiation oncologist (on PTO rotation)
• Support Staff Available: 2 Radiation Oncologists, 1 APP, 6 Radiation Therapists, 3 Nurses, 2 Physicists, 2 Dosimetrists, Financial Counselors, Office Assistants
• Reason for Coverage: Retirement vacancy

• Intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT)
• Image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT)
• On-Board Imager® (OBI)
• Stereotactic Radiation Therapy (SRS & SBRT)
• RapidArc®
• Respiratory gating
• HDR (High Dose Rate Brachytherapy)

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Licenses: Pennsylvania license (can apply if not currently held)
• Board: Board Certified in Radiation Oncology (Board Eligible not accepted)
• DEA: Active DEA Certification required
• Certifications: BLS
• Experience: Minimum 5 years in specialty
• Other Qualifications: Ability to work solo

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage consults and ongoing radiation oncology cases independently
• Handle weekday and weekend call responsibilities
• Coordinate patient care for cancer and radiation-related needs
• Provide symptom and side effect management
• Engage with interdisciplinary support services including nutrition and psychosocial counseling
