A South Texas hospital is seeking locum tenens coverage for Oncology July 5th-8th and beginning again July 17th-30th, until a permanent physician begins. The schedule is Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, seeing about 20 patients per day. Contact a Staff Care representative for more details!
An oncologist(locum tenens) is a physician who has specialized in the study and treatment of cancer. Medical oncologists perform many diagnostic tests when assessing new patients, such as biopsies and blood work. After determining the stage of the cancer and a prognosis, they begin treating their patients, making use of a range of medical procedures including chemotherapy and other medications. Monitoring the patient is an important aspect of medical oncology, and oncologists frequently perform diagnostic tests throughout treatment to examine the efficacy of the medication or medical procedures.
