Medical Oncologist Locum Opportunity – Massachsuettes

We are seeking a Board Certified Medical Oncologist for a long-term outpatient locum opportunity covering Fitchburg and Worcester, Massachusetts. The assignment is expected to run for approximately one year with the possibility of extension, with full-time coverage preferred. The primary clinical focus is General Medical Oncology, particularly GI Oncology.

Assignment Details

• Part-time candidates may be considered

Schedule

• 4 days per week / 40 hours per week
• 8 clinic sessions weekly
• Clinic hours: 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
• Preferred coverage:
  • 2 days / 4 clinic sessions in Fitchburg
  • 2 days / 4 clinic sessions in Worcester
• Preference for one physician covering both locations
• Physicians able to consistently cover 2 days per week at one location may also be considered
• No call
• No telehealth

Practice Setting

• Outpatient Medical Oncology
• General Medical Oncology with a primary focus on GI Oncology
• Two outpatient cancer center locations
• Epic EMR
• No Trauma designation

Patient Volume

• Approximately 10–16 clinic appointments per day

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient Medical Oncology care
• Primarily manage GI Oncology patients
• Evaluate new and established patients
• Develop and manage cancer treatment plans
• Provide ongoing treatment and follow-up care
• Coordinate care with the multidisciplinary Oncology team
• Bone marrow biopsy capability preferred

Support Staff

• APP support
• RN Navigator support
• Director onsite
• Clinic Manager onsite

Requirements

• MD or DO
• Board Certification required
• Hematology/Oncology fellowship required
• Active Massachusetts medical license required at submission
• CSR required
• DEA required
• Epic experience preferred
• Bone marrow biopsy experience preferred
• Prior locum/travel experience not required

Credentialing & Travel

• Approximately 90-day credentialing timeframe
• Local candidates preferred
• Travel candidates considered with consistent availability

Ideal Candidate

A Board Certified Medical Oncologist with Hematology/Oncology fellowship training and an active Massachusetts license who is comfortable managing a broad outpatient Oncology population with a particular emphasis on GI malignancies. Physicians able to provide the full 4-day schedule across both locations are preferred, although consistent 2-day-per-week coverage at one location may also be considered.
