Job description
The Division of Hematology and Oncology at UCSF Health is seeking applicants for a Breast Medical Oncologist position to join one of UCSF’s affiliated clinical practices in the Bay Area. This role will focus primarily, though not exclusively, on the care of patients with breast cancer, with opportunities for integration and collaboration with UCSF faculty and specialty programs.
Our goal is to provide faculty members with clinical responsibilities that align with their professional interests while fostering excellence in patient-centered, evidence-based oncologic care.
Position Overview
This position involves the delivery of comprehensive outpatient oncologic care to patients with breast cancer, including acute and longitudinal management. The Breast Medical Oncologist will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and maintain strong connections with UCSF’s tertiary and quaternary care services for complex cases.
Faculty in this role will practice within UCSF Health’s integrated care model and have the opportunity to participate in academic collaboration, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical trials engagement.
Job Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive oncologic care with a primary focus on breast cancer
• Make appropriate specialty referrals and manage hospital admissions when medically indicated
• Coordinate referrals to UCSF primary hospitals for tertiary and quaternary care
• Deliver care with respect for patient dignity, equity, and cost effective treatment principles
Clinical Effort
• A 100% FTE appointment consists of eight (8) half day (four hour) clinical sessions per week
• Less than 100% FTE positions will be structured proportionally
• 20% protected administrative time is allocated to manage patient panels, participate in team based activities, and support after hours coverage responsibilities
Academic and Collaborative Opportunity
Oncologists in this role will have the opportunity to spend up to one day per week with UCSF Breast Cancer faculty at the Mission Bay
Breast Cancer Clinic, allowing for:
• Direct collaboration with UCSF subspecialty faculty
• Participation in clinical trials and access to open studies
• Enhanced integration between community based and academic oncology practices
• RVU credit for clinical care provided during these sessions
Qualifications
• MD or equivalent degree
• Board certified or board eligible in Medical Oncology / Hematology Oncology
• Completion of a 3 year Hematology Oncology fellowship
• Eligibility for licensure in the State of California
• Strong training background with excellent references

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The base salary range for this position is $450,000.00 This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
