Job description
We are seeking a Medical Hematologist/Oncologist for locum tenens coverage in their Outpatient Chemotherapy and Infusion Center. As the solo provider, you will oversee all aspects of diagnosis, staging, and treatment for a diverse patient population. This role is supported by a dedicated midlevel provider and a full administrative and clinical nursing team.
-Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
-Location: Redding, CA.
-Team: 1 Midlevel provider, 1 Clinic RN, 10 Infusion RNs, and 2 MAs.
-Charting: iKnowmed (Clinic) and Cerner (Infusion).
-
Note: This position does not offer Emergency/Temporary privileges.
Job Responsibilities
-Provide MD oversight for both the Hematology/Oncology clinic and Infusion Services.
-Perform hospital consults as required and participate in the call rotation.
-Manage a daily patient volume of 15–20 patients and approximately 15–20 admissions per day.
-Collaborate directly with ER physicians or hospitalists for all necessary admissions.
Qualifications
-Licensure: Active California Medical License [REQUIRED].
-Fellowship: Completed Fellowship in Oncology/Hematology [REQUIRED].
-Certifications: Active DEA and ACLS (ACLS required only if requesting Moderate Sedation privileges).
-Credentialing: Most recent Self-Query NPDB report (pulled within 30 days of presentation) [REQUIRED].
Working Hours
-On-Call: Hospital consults required with call.
-Availability: Multiple provider needs ranging from March through August
Skills
-Technical experience with iKnowmed and Cerner EMR systems.
-Ability to act as a solo provider in an infusion center environment while leading a large nursing team.
