We are seeking a Medical Oncologist for locum tenens coverage in their free-standing cancer center. This role involves managing a mix of benign hematology and malignant oncology cases in both inpatient and outpatient settings. You will join a robust team of 7 physicians and 6 APPs to maintain continuity of care following a provider loss.

-Schedule: Days; Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM.
-Location: Greenville, SC.
-Team: 7 Physicians and 6 APPs.
-Charting: EPIC.


  • Travel Reimbursement: Flights, Rental Car, and IRS Standard Mileage.

  • Lodging: Hotel costs reimbursed by the facility.


Job Responsibilities

-Manage a patient population consisting of 65% benign hematology and 35% malignant oncology.
-Maintain a daily volume of approximately 25 outpatient visits and 20 hospital rounding/call patients.
-Participate in Tumor Boards and oversee the management of Bone Marrow Transplants and Blood Bank activities.
-Order diagnostic tests, imaging, and prescribe chemotherapy administration (administered by Nurse Oncologists).
-Provide comprehensive care to adult and geriatric patients.

Qualifications

-Board Certification: Board Certified in Hematology & Oncology [REQUIRED].
-Licensure: Active South Carolina Medical License [REQUIRED].
-Certifications: Current BLS and active DEA [REQUIRED].
-Credentialing: Clean background for Emergency temporary privileges; Self-Query NPDB report pulled within 30 days of presentation [REQUIRED].

Working Hours

-Shifts: 8-hour day shifts.
-On-Call: No call requirements during the locum period (Call is expected only if transitioning to permanent status).
-Availability: 4 weeks per month, 4 days per week; must commit to at least a 6-month initial contract.

Skills

-Proficiency in managing complex bone marrow transplant patients and hematologic disorders.
-Ability to collaborate in a high-volume, multidisciplinary cancer center setting.
-Strong diagnostic and prescriptive authority within an oncology framework.
