Job description
ATC West Healthcare Services is seeking a Medical Hematologist/Oncologist to provide outpatient oncology care in a chemotherapy and infusion center within a hospital setting in CA. The physician will function as the primary provider in the outpatient infusion center, overseeing chemotherapy and related treatments while collaborating with a midlevel provider and clinical support staff. The role also includes hospital consults with on-call responsibilities and coordination with ER physicians or hospitalists for patient admissions.
Schedule & Availability
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Coverage Period: March – August
Provider coverage varies by date, typically requiring 1–4 providers per day depending on patient demand. Key patterns include:

March – April: Mostly 2–3 providers per day, with occasional days requiring 1 provider.

May – June: Generally 2–3 providers per day, with occasional increases to 4 providers.

July – August: Mostly 2–3 providers per day, with several 4-provider days during higher-volume periods.
Job Details & Responsibilities
-
Provide outpatient hematology and oncology care at a hospital-based chemotherapy and infusion center.
-
Diagnose, stage, and treat hematologic and oncologic conditions across all tumor types.

Manage precision medicine strategies, treatment planning, and symptom management.
-
Oversee and supervise infusion center operations, with MD presence required for treatments.

Administer and monitor therapies including:
-
Chemotherapy
-
Immunotherapy
-
Blood and platelet transfusions
-
Hormone therapy
-
Antibiotic therapy
-
Rheumatoid arthritis injections
-
Therapeutic phlebotomies
-

Provide hospital consults and on-call coverage, coordinating with ER physicians and hospitalists for admissions.

Collaborate with a midlevel provider to manage patient flow, orders, and clinical coordination.

Work with a multidisciplinary team including:

1 clinic RN
-
2 medical assistants
-
2 front office staff
-
1 quality analyst/billing specialist
-
10 infusion nurses
-

Manage 15–20 patient visits per day and approximately 15–20 admissions/consults daily.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Licensure & Certification
-
Active California Medical License (required)
-
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hematology and Oncology (required)

DEA Certification (required)
-
ACLS certification required if requesting moderate sedation privileges

PALS required if treating pediatric patients
-
NPDB Self-Query Report dated within 30 days of presentation (required)
Education & Training
-
Completion of an accredited Hematology/Oncology fellowship (required)
Experience & Technical Skills
-
Experience managing hematology and oncology patients across all tumor types

Proficiency in chemotherapy and infusion therapy oversight
-
Familiarity with precision oncology and treatment planning

Experience using:

iKnowMed EMR (clinic)
-
Cerner EMR (infusion center)
-
Credentialing
-
Credentialing timeframe: 30–60 days
