Job description
This opportunity is for a Medical Hematologist/Oncologist to provide outpatient cancer care in a hospital-based Chemotherapy and Infusion Center in California. The physician will serve as the solo oncologist onsite, overseeing both clinic and infusion services, with support from a midlevel provider and dedicated nursing staff. Hospital consults and call coverage are required, with coordination alongside ER physicians and hospitalists for admissions.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Job Details & Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive outpatient hematology and oncology care, including diagnosis, staging, precision medicine, symptom management, and treatment planning

Serve as the onsite physician for all infusion treatments

Oversee both the Oncology/Hematology Clinic and Infusion Services

Perform hospital consults and take call as required

Work directly with ER physicians and hospitalists for admissions

Infusion services include:

Chemotherapy and immunotherapy

Blood and platelet transfusions
-
Hormone therapy
-
Antibiotic therapy
-
Rheumatoid arthritis injections

Therapeutic phlebotomies
-

Average volume: 15–20 patients/admissions per day

EMR systems:

iKnowMed (clinic)

Cerner (infusion center)

Support staff includes clinic RN, MAs, front office staff, billing/quality analyst, and infusion RNs

Reason for coverage: Provider shortage
Required Skills & Qualifications
-
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hematology and/or Oncology (dealbreaker if not eligible)

Completion of Hematology/Oncology fellowship

Active California medical license
-
DEA registration
-
ACLS required if requesting moderate sedation privileges (PALS required for pediatric patients)

Recent NPDB self-query (dated within 30 days of presentation)

Ability to practice independently as a solo provider in an outpatient infusion setting
