Job description
We are seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Medical Oncologist for a locum tenens assignment in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This position is based in a high-volume outpatient oncology setting with a primary focus on thoracic (lung) cancer, along with secondary coverage in general and benign hematology. The role offers a structured weekday schedule, strong APP support, and participation in a multidisciplinary oncology care model. This is an excellent opportunity for oncologists seeking a well-supported outpatient practice with tumor board involvement and consistent patient volume.
Job Responsibilities
• Manage adult and geriatric oncology patients
• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat oncology and hematology conditions
• Prescribe and manage chemotherapy and oncology treatment plans
• Participate in multidisciplinary tumor board discussions
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging
• Perform or oversee FNAs and biopsies as required
• Coordinate care with oncology nurses, APPs, and specialty physicians
• Provide on-call coverage as part of a shared call rotation
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
Qualifications
• Active Michigan medical license (preferred; license in process considered)
• BLS certification
• Willingness to focus primarily on thoracic (lung) cancer patients
• Experience in outpatient oncology settings
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• NPDB self-query report (recent)
• Clean malpractice and professional history
Working Hours
• Day shifts only
• 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Shared call rotation (approximately 1:5)
• Weekend rounding with APP support when on call
