365 Healthcare is seeking a LOCUM Medical Oncologist with a thoracic (lung cancer) focus to provide coverage at a high-volume outpatient cancer center in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This opportunity includes weekday clinic coverage with call responsibilities and offers a competitive hourly rate of $300/hour, $2,254 for 24-hour on-call coverage, along with lodging and travel coverage, rental car or mileage reimbursement, and malpractice insurance included.
Schedule
Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Weekend coverage required
Call required
Call rotation: 1 in 5
Weekday evening call (telephone)
Weekend rounding with APP support
Practice Details
Outpatient cancer center setting
Patient population includes adult and geriatric patients
Practice mix approximately 60% hematology / 40% oncology
Primary focus on thoracic (lung) oncology
Secondary focus on general / benign hematology
Multidisciplinary physician team of 6 oncologists
APP coverage includes 5 inpatient APPs and 5 outpatient APPs
Average outpatient volume: 8–16 patients per day
Average inpatient census during call: ~22 patients across 2 hospitals
Trauma Level II
Chemotherapy administered by oncology nursing staff
EMR: Epic
Estimated credentialing timeframe: ~90 days
Clinical Responsibilities
Outpatient medical oncology clinic visits
Management of thoracic (lung) cancer patients
General hematology management as needed
Participation in tumor board
Ordering diagnostic tests and imaging
Prescribing medications and oncology therapies
Hospital rounding during call coverage
Required Procedures
Fine needle aspiration (FNA)
Biopsy procedures
Qualifications
Board Certified or Truly Board Eligible in Medical Oncology
Active Michigan license (highly preferred; providers obtaining licensure considered)
BLS certification
Must be willing to focus primarily on thoracic (lung) oncology
Clean background with no malpractice history
NPDB self-query required at time of presentation
