Job description
We are seeking a Locums Medical Hematology/Oncology Physician to provide coverage at an established outpatient cancer center in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This opportunity offers a balanced mix of outpatient clinic work with shared call responsibilities, supported by a multidisciplinary oncology team.

Position Details
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Practice Setting: Outpatient Cancer Center
- Patient Population: Adult & Geriatric
- Trauma Level: Level II
- Call Schedule:
- If part of call pool: Monday–Sunday
- Weekday evening telephone call
- Weekend inpatient rounding with APP support
- Call Ratio: 1 in 5
Clinical Focus
- Practice mix is approximately 60% Hematology / 40% Oncology
- Primary focus: Lung Cancer
- Secondary focus: General/benign hematology for patients not assigned to specialty physicians
- Current team includes subspecialists in Breast, GI, GU, Neuro, and Lung Oncology (at a different location)
Patient Volume
- Outpatient Clinic:
- 8–16 patients per day
- 7–8 hours of scheduled patient appointment time
- Hospital Call/Rounding:
- Average combined census of 22 patients across two hospitals
- Approximately 4–5 new patients
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and manage oncology and hematology patients in the outpatient setting
- Perform FNA/Biopsy procedures
- Participate in Tumor Board meetings
- Order diagnostic tests and imaging
- Prescribe medications and develop treatment plans
- Provide inpatient rounding and consultative support while on call
Requirements
- Board Certified or Truly Board Eligible in Medical Oncology
- Active Michigan medical license (or willingness to obtain)
- BLS certification
