Position: Medical Director – Oncology Developmental Therapeutics Located: Charlotte, NC Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Medical Oncology and Hematology Overview: • Reports to the local Oncology market leader. • Role split approximately 50% clinical / 50% administrative. • Supports system-wide growth of the Developmental Therapeutics Program. • Ideal candidate will have early-phase developmental therapeutics training, regulatory experience, translational and investigator-initiated research experience, and preferably pharmaceutical industry exposure. Key Responsibilities: • Provide medical direction and oversight of early-phase clinical trials (as PI or supporting PI colleagues). • Identify growth opportunities and develop strategies for early-phase trials across all solid tumor populations. • Lead the Developmental Therapeutics working group and support trial prioritization. • Recruit, hire, and mentor developmental therapeutics faculty. • Facilitate translational collaborations with pre-clinical researchers, leading first-in-human studies. • Author and mentor colleagues in early-phase clinical trials. • Maintain a balanced portfolio of innovative first-in-human trials to establish the program as a leading early-phase destination. • Develop a national reputation in early-phase trial conduct. • Collaborate with leadership to align trial priorities with community needs. • Serve as liaison among faculty, clinical management, trials office staff, and leadership. • Assist with trial office workload distribution and resource allocation. • Review audit reports and implement corrective actions. • Monitor activation timelines for Phase I studies and recommend process improvements. • Develop and manage program budgets, advocating for additional resources as needed. • Attend leadership, trial management, and oversight committee meetings. • Liaise with institutional review boards and university partners. • Integrate and expand the Developmental Therapeutics program across the system.
