Medical Oncologist – Outpatient-Focused Role
Location: Northern California with coordination support from Santa Rosa, CA
Compensation: $500,000 – $700,000 annually (commensurate with experience and schedule)
Employment Type: Full-time, Monday–Friday Schedule
Start Date: Flexible; current physician departing December 2025
Relocation or Transition Support: Locum-to-perm transition strongly preferred
Position Overview:
We’re excited to share an opportunity for a board-certified/eligible Medical Oncologist to join a growing, collaborative, and patient-centered oncology team in Northern California. This is a predominantly outpatient-focused position in a beautiful lakeside community, with support from an established regional oncology network. You’ll play a key role in providing direct patient care, coordinating specialty referrals, participating in care planning, and shaping oncology service delivery in a community setting.
Position Highlights:

Outpatient general oncology (no infusion, chemotherapy, or biologics onsite initially)

Chemotherapy services planned to launch in early 2026

Access to infusion/chemo services in the affiliated Santa Rosa clinic

Flexible Nurse Practitioner support

Patient panel: 1,500–2,000 with varied acuity

Daily volume: 15–16 patients

Epic EMR utilized system-wide

Embedded within a broader oncology service line in collaboration with regional specialists

Strong infrastructure for administrative and virtual support
Schedule & Coverage Structure:

Monday through Friday, regular business hours

Minimal inpatient responsibilities, if any

After-hours call handled by family medicine colleagues

Close coordination and virtual consult support from regional oncology colleagues

Must be comfortable working independently in a solo-provider outpatient setting
Ideal Candidate Profile:

MD or DO with Board Certification/Eligibility in Oncology

Valid California medical license or ability to obtain one

Prior solo practice, rural medicine, or leadership experience preferred

Confident, self-starter with interest in building or leading services

Comfortable practicing independently while collaborating across sites
Licensure & Certification Requirements (Must Have or Be Willing to Obtain Upon Hire):

DEA & Controlled Substance Registration

BLS, ACLS, NRP

Board Certified or Eligible in Oncology

Pay Range: $207.70 – $337.98/hour (base hourly equivalent)
Annualized salary ranges from $500,000 to $700,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and structure of workweek.
Interested candidates are encouraged to apply early. A locum-to-perm trial period is available, with overlapping coverage in place to ensure a smooth handoff from the current physician, who plans to transition out by December 2025.
