The Clinical Physician Executive, Employer Solutions plays an integral role in the consistent delivery of remarkable service and care to the employers and workforce we serve. This senior physician leadership role provides regional clinical direction across employer-based, occupational health, and workforce wellbeing services. Supporting our clinical and operational teams through professional development, administrative support, and advisement of clinical best practices enables the delivery of high-quality, compliant care to our employer partners.

Areas of practice may include, but are not limited to, general health and wellness, management of acute injury and illness, chronic condition management, population health, occupational health (including BBFE and other exposures), and workplace injury management. The Clinical Physician Executive provides clinical judgment and strategic guidance across these domains, ensuring care delivery aligns with regulatory requirements, employer expectations, and Novant Health's quality standards.

This position ensures compliance with OSHA regulations, workers' compensation guidelines, DOT requirements, and employer health programs, while promoting employee wellness and injury prevention. The role serves as a clinical mentor and resource to onsite medical staff, collaborates closely with safety teams, and leads protocol optimization to improve workforce health outcomes. This position also supports program marketing, product development, and internal and external professional representation, serving as a physician ambassador for Employer Solutions initiatives.

The Clinical Physician Executive maintains both clinical and administrative responsibilities and sets a tone of excellence from a regional clinical leadership perspective aligned with Novant Health's Employer Solutions growth strategy.

What You'll Do

Position Highlights:
  • Full-time, outpatient opportunity with no nights or weekends
  • 24 hours/week of clinical care and 16 hours/week of Administrative time
  • Provide pre-employment exams, workplace injury care, return-to-work evaluations, and DOT physicals, onsite clinics for employers and supervision of APP providers

What We're Looking For

Qualifications & Requirements
  • MD or DO with an active medical license in North Carolina
  • Board eligible or board certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Occupational Medicine
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a physician leader
  • Experience in occupational health, urgent care, workplace injury care, employer-based clinics, or workforce wellbeing
  • Ability to obtain Medical Review Officer (MRO) certification within 90 days of hire
  • Ability to obtain Department of Transportation (DOT) certification within 90 days of hire
  • Demonstrated skills in physician governance, negotiation, conflict resolution, dashboard analysis, and executive-level communication
