Job description
ATC West Healthcare Services is seeking an experienced Locum OB/GYN Physician (MD/DO) to provide temporary coverage for a physician on medical leave. The provider will deliver both office-based OB/GYN care and hospital call coverage, working within a collaborative team of physicians and midwives. The role includes managing routine and complex obstetric cases, gynecologic care, and on-call labor and delivery responsibilities.

Call Coverage: 24-hour call on scheduled weekdays (via PerfectServe)

Credentialing Timeframe: Approximately 120 days
Job Details / Responsibilities
-
Provide OB/GYN care in both clinic and hospital settings, including routine prenatal care, gynecologic visits, and labor and delivery coverage.

Manage low-risk (90%) and high-risk (10%) pregnancy cases, including prenatal monitoring and delivery.

Perform vaginal deliveries, C-sections, VBACs, and management of complex obstetric cases such as breech deliveries and multiple births.

Conduct OB ultrasound interpretation, fetal heart rate monitoring (NST/CST/FSE), and pregnancy viability assessments.

Perform office-based gynecologic procedures such as IUD placement, cystoscopy, colposcopy, cryosurgery, and LEEP.

Perform surgical gynecology procedures, including laparoscopic and open procedures such as tubal ligation, ectopic pregnancy treatment, ovarian procedures, and adhesiolysis.

Evaluate and manage 20% gynecology patient population and perform 1–4 gynecologic surgeries per day, depending on case complexity.

Document care using EPIC EMR.

Work alongside 4 physicians (one on leave), 5 midwives, and dedicated clinical support staff (CMA, LPN, RN per provider).

Utilize onsite lab and ultrasound services within a Level II trauma center with Level III NICU support.
Required Skills & Qualifications

Board Certified or Board Eligible in OB/GYN (required)

Active Virginia medical license or willingness to obtain (required)

BLS and ACLS certifications (required)

NPDB Self-Query report dated within 30 days of presentation (required)
