Job description Locums to Perm OB Hospitalist Opportunity

Location: Richmond, Virginia

POSITION OVERVIEW
  • Seeking experienced OB/GYN Physicians (MD/DO) to join a collaborative team

  • Board Certification/Eligibility: Required in OB/GYN

  • State License: Active Virginia medical license or willing to obtain (required)

  • Certifications: BLS and ACLS required

  • Provider must be local

COVERAGE DETAILS
  • Reason: Physician on medical leave

  • Dates: May 1, 2026 – August 31, 2026

  • Practice Setting: Office + Hospital with OB call coverage

  • Schedule:

    • Office hours 8 AM – 4 PM (patient schedule)

    • Call 24 hours each weekday included in schedule

  • Call Schedule: Yes, through Perfect Serve

  • Call Ratio: 1 in 4

PRACTICE DETAILS
  • Average Patients per Day: 25–30

  • Physicians: 4 total (1 on leave)

  • Midwives: 5

  • APPs: 5

  • Exam Rooms: 3 per provider

  • Onsite Lab and Ultrasound: Yes

  • Office Equipment: Fetal dopplers, colposcopy equipment, plastic & metal specs, manual BP cuffs

  • Support Staff: One-on-one clinical staff per provider (CMA, LPN, RN)

PATIENT & CASE MIX
  • Low Risk Pregnancy: 90%

  • High Risk Pregnancy: 10%

  • Gynecology: 20% of practice

  • Average GYN Surgeries per Day: 1–4 (provider preference and case-dependent)

  • C-Section Rate: 10%

  • Nursery Admissions: N/A

  • NICU Level: Level III

  • EMR: EPC

  • Trauma Level: Level II

REQUIRED PROCEDURES

Obstetrics:

  • Low risk pregnancies (e.g., twins, toxemia, pyelonephritis)

  • Fetal heart rate monitoring (NST, CST, FSE)

  • OB ultrasound interpretation and Level I screening

  • Skilled in working with ultrasound techs who complete scans

Labor & Delivery:

  • Routine vaginal deliveries, low forceps

  • C-section decision-making and performance including complicated deliveries (breech, multiple births, abruptions)

  • VBACs

  • Repair of 3rd and 4th degree lacerations

Gynecology:

  • Office/minor procedures: IUD placement/removal, cystoscopy, colposcopy, cryosurgery, LEEP

  • Surgical gynecology:

    • Minor: laparoscopic diagnostic/minor surgeries, tubal ligation, LOAs

    • Major: ectopic pregnancy surgery, ovary removal, cystectomy, extensive LOAs
