Position Overview
An established hospital system in Houston, Texas is seeking a Board-Certified OB Hospitalist for ongoing inpatient coverage. This role focuses on comprehensive obstetrical and gynecologic care across Labor & Delivery, antepartum, postpartum, and OBED units, with an emphasis on patient safety, rapid response, and collaboration with community OB providers.
Providers must be comfortable managing high-acuity obstetric cases, responding to emergencies, and supporting both assigned and unassigned patients.

- Assignment Length: Ongoing
- Coverage Type: Scheduled inpatient shifts
- Shift Options:
- 12-hour shifts:
- Days: 6:30a–6:30p
- Nights: 6:30p–6:30a
- 24-hour shifts or reverse 24s accepted
- 12-hour shifts:
Practice Setting
- Inpatient OB Hospitalist model
- Coverage includes Labor & Delivery, antepartum, postpartum, and OBED
- Support of community obstetricians, midwives, and MFM services
Clinical Responsibilities
- Maintain active awareness of all obstetric patients on assigned units
- Evaluate and manage all unassigned OB/GYN patients, regardless of payor status
- Manage unassigned obstetric patients from admission through discharge
- Deliver patients when community OB physicians are unable to arrive in time
- Respond to and manage emergent situations until care is transitioned
- Accept and manage transferred OB/GYN patients, including coordination of transport
- Manage and deliver MFM patients as clinically indicated
- Assist with complicated deliveries, including TOLAC
- Provide OB and GYN consultative support throughout the hospital
- Perform surgical management of unassigned gynecology patients
Facility Capabilities
- Maternal Care Levels: II, III, and IV across multiple campuses
- NICU Levels: II, III, and IV available system-wide
Requirements
- Board Certified in OB/GYN (required)
- Active Texas medical license (required)
- Minimum 5 years of OB experience (required)
- Comfortable managing high-risk obstetrics and emergency situations
