Job description
An established acute care hospital in coastal Virginia is seeking a Board-Certified OB/GYN to provide locum tenens coverage with the opportunity for locum-to-permanent conversion. This role offers a balanced mix of clinic coverage, inpatient obstetrics, and weekend 24-hour call, with full travel expenses covered. The position begins March 13, 2026, with a minimum commitment of two weeks per month.
The physician will practice in a bread-and-butter OB/GYN setting with a strong focus on obstetrics, including C-sections and vaginal deliveries. Providers must be comfortable managing deliveries independently, as there is no APP support. The facility utilizes Epic EMR and serves both adult and infant populations.
Job Responsibilities
Perform C-sections independently; VBAC experience strongly preferred
Manage 24-hour in-house or on-call weekend coverage
Provide weekday clinic coverage (7:00 AM – 4:00 PM) with nightly call responsibilities
Accurately document all patient encounters using Epic EMR
Collaborate with nursing and hospital staff to ensure high-quality patient care
Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and credentialing requirements
Qualifications
Active Virginia medical license (required; not willing to license)
Virginia DEA (required)
Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
Demonstrated competency in C-sections; VBAC experience highly desired
Clean background required (dismissed cases acceptable; name must clear)
Epic EMR experience required
Working Hours
Commitment: Minimum 2 weeks per month
Weekend Coverage:
24-hour call from Friday 7:00 AM – Monday 7:00 AM
Weekday Coverage:
Clinic hours 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Night call during assigned weeks
Employment Type: Locum Tenens (1099) with potential for locum-to-perm
