👶 Deliver Excellence: OB/GYN Locum Opportunity | Flexible 24- or 12-Hour Shifts | Iowa | All Expenses Covered

Seeking a Board-Certified OB/GYN to provide locum coverage in a busy, high-acuity hospital setting. This is a 24-hour in-house call position (or 12-hour option available) with no overtime and full support from experienced staff and residents.

🏥 Practice & Facility Overview

• Level 3 Trauma Designation

• Full OB/GYN hospital coverage

• 4 physicians in practice; 1–2 CNMs available for support

• On-site Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, OR, ER support staff

• Lab & Ultrasound available on-site

• EMR: Cerner

• Triage and deliver Genesis OB patients (~65–80 deliveries/month)

• Cover Genesis ER OB calls and rounding on inpatients

• Handle no-doc patients (~1/day)

• Circumcision coverage if able (not mandatory)

📋 Clinical Responsibilities

Obstetrics & Labor/Delivery

• Low-risk pregnancies: twins, toxemia, pyelonephritis, etc.

• High-risk pregnancies: diabetes, cardiac disease (Class II+), renal or lung disease

• FHR interpretation: NST/CST/FSE

• OB ultrasounds – Level I/Screening (Viability)

• Amniocentesis

• Routine and complicated deliveries: vaginal, forceps, C-section, breech, multiple births, abruptions

• VBAC management

• Repair of 3rd & 4th-degree lacerations

Gynecology

• Open surgical procedures

• Laparoscopic diagnostic/minor (tubal ligation, LOAs)

• Operative/major procedures: ectopic pregnancy, ovary removal, cystectomy, extensive LOAs

⏰ Schedule

• Mon–Fri minimum coverage, some weekends may be required

• 24-hour in-house shifts: 8a–8a (flat fee per 24 hours, sleep room provided)

• 12-hour in-house shifts: 8a–8p (flat fee, option available if additional locum found)

• Facility does not allow two consecutive 24-hour shifts during the week

• Call ratio: 1:5

• Call schedule available 1–2 months in advance

✅ Candidate Requirements

• Board-Certified OB/GYN (FM OBs not accepted)

• Active Iowa license or Active IMLC (LOQ required at name clear)

• Fetal Monitoring Certification by AWHONN – Required

• Must be able to work weekday coverage, Mon–Fri minimum

• Clean malpractice and background check – NPDB self-query within 30 days

• 2 professional references (1 from supervisor or above)

• Must be willing to discuss and adhere to facility scheduling expectations
