Seeking experienced OB Hospitalists for a high-quality locum's opportunity with immediate need. This is a well-supported inpatient role within a respected health system focused on safety, collaboration, and excellent maternal outcomes.

Schedule & Coverage

• Start Date: ASAP (April target)

• Shift Time: 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM

• Shift Length: 24-hour shifts (required)

• Call: 24/7 in-house call

  • Call rooms available

• Scheduling Note: Physicians may not work more than two consecutive 24-hour shifts

Practice Setting

• Facility: MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center

• Inpatient: Yes

• OBED: 8-bed OB Emergency Department

• Annual OBED Volume: ~1,389 visits/year

  • ~463 deliveries annually

• EMR: Epic

• Medical Imaging, Lab & Pharmacy: On-site

• Telehealth: No

• APP Supervision: Not required

• Residents: Present, but OB Hospitalist is not responsible for supervision

• MFM: On call

• GYN Responsibilities: None

• Unique Program Highlight: Only maternity transport team in Iowa

Clinical Responsibilities

• OBED patient management

• Care of emergent OB patients, including vaginal deliveries and C-sections

• Management of patients without a primary OB/GYN

• Participation in a highly coordinated inpatient OB care model

Candidate Requirements

• Board Certified or Truly Board Eligible OB/GYN – Required

• Active Iowa license strongly preferred

  • OR Active IMLC (Letter of Qualification required at name clear)

• Ability to start ASAP (April target) – Required

• Clean malpractice and background history – Required

• NPDB Self-Query (pulled within the past month) – Required at presentation

• Providers local to the Des Moines area will not be considered – Required
