Locum OB/GYN – Call Coverage
Seeking a locum OB/GYN to provide 24-hour call coverage in a critical access hospital and clinic setting. Coverage is needed for 9–12 months, with flexibility to utilize multiple part-time locum providers to meet scheduling needs. The hospital is located in a scenic community and supports a collaborative, multi-specialty practice environment.
Practice Setting & Team

Critical Access Hospital with attached clinic

Shared office space with multiple specialties

OB practice consists of 2 OB/GYNs, 2 FP-OB physicians, and 2 CNMs
-
EMR: Epic
-
Support staff includes MA or LPN in clinic and L&D RNs in the hospital
Schedule & Coverage
-
24-hour call shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 AM) with a 20-minute response time

Providers contacted via cell phone
-
6–8 call shifts per month
-
Coverage duration: 9–12 months
-
FTE: 1.0 (can be split among multiple locums)
Clinical Responsibilities
-
OB/GYN clinic care
-
OB and GYN call coverage through Labor & Delivery and Emergency Department
-
Management of both routine and high-risk obstetric cases
-
GYN emergency surgeries as needed
Required Skills & Procedures
-
Routine and complicated vaginal deliveries
-
Fetal heart rate interpretation (low- and high-risk)
-
Repair of 3rd–4th degree lacerations
-
Cesarean sections (must be willing to assist and supervise as needed)

Ectopic pregnancy management

Comfort with OB inductions and emergent GYN surgeries
Candidate Requirements

Strong OB skill set with ability to manage high-acuity cases independently

Comfortable in a critical access hospital environment

Reliable availability and commitment to scheduled call shifts

Incomplete or partial submissions will not be accepted
Credentialing & Administrative Details

Estimated credentialing timeframe: approximately 3 months
-
Locum providers may be automatically credentialed at affiliated facilities (excluding St. Michaels)

Position is not a short-term replacement for an existing enrolled provider
Travel Preferences

Local or regional providers preferred

Lodging and travel must align with facility guidelines; exceptions must be disclosed at submission
