Job description Locums to Perm – Associate Medical Director (OB/GYN) | Dallas, Texas Availability
  • 13-week locums assignment with intention to transition to permanent

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

  • Start: ASAP

  • Not open to: 1099, visa candidates, or providers with lapsed board certification

Licenses & Certifications – MUST HAVES
  • Board Certification in OB/GYN (no exceptions)

  • Texas Medical License (or willingness to obtain)

  • Experience in Managed Care & Prior Authorization — REQUIRED

  • Experience in Utilization Management committees — PREFERRED

  • Knowledge of Texas Medicaid Regulations — REQUIRED

  • Clean malpractice and license history required

Position Summary

Seeking an experienced OB/GYN physician with strong managed care expertise to serve as Associate Medical Director. Role includes clinical oversight, utilization management, quality initiatives, and physician performance review for a major Texas health plan.

Core Responsibilities Utilization Management & Clinical Review
  • Review prior authorizations, appeals, and medical necessity determinations

  • Conduct peer-to-peer reviews

  • Provide oversight for UM, disease management, and quality programs

  • Assist with pharmacy benefit oversight and coordination

Quality, Policy & Compliance
  • Participate in developing medical policies & clinical guidelines

  • Analyze data for provider profiling and performance evaluation

  • Participate in fraud, waste, and abuse program oversight

  • Ensure adherence to state, federal, and accreditation regulations (TDI, HHSC, etc.)

Leadership & Administration
  • Represent the organization with state/local agencies as needed

  • Lead and participate in managed care committees

  • Oversee process improvement and workflow optimization

  • Participate in annual departmental goal setting

  • Assist with budgeting and resource planning

  • Supervise and evaluate staff; ensure ongoing training and development

Required Skills & Competencies
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

  • Skilled in managed care principles, UM, value-based care, and population health

  • Ability to interpret and develop treatment plans

  • Negotiation skills and ability to remain calm under pressure

  • Ability to apply medical knowledge to business/operational challenges

  • Detail-oriented, adaptable, and able to handle confidential information
