Job description
Seeking a Locum OB/GYN Hospitalist to provide inpatient call coverage, deliveries, and emergency response in a hospital setting. The role offers flexible 12-hour or 24-hour call shifts with weekday and weekend availability required. Providers will manage both low- and high-risk pregnancies, perform deliveries, and respond to OB/GYN emergencies.
Job Responsibilities
Perform and manage vaginal deliveries, C-sections, VBACs, and emergency procedures.
Conduct triage, patient rounds, and cover ER calls for OB/GYN patients.
Manage both low- and high-risk obstetric cases, including twins, diabetes, and cardiac conditions.
Perform routine and complex gynecologic surgeries (open and laparoscopic).
Collaborate with CNMs, residents, nurses, and support staff across Labor & Delivery and OR units.
Complete accurate documentation within Cerner EMR.
Qualifications
Active Iowa medical license or IMLC (LOQ required at submission).
Fetal Monitoring certification required.
Clean malpractice and background history required.
Two professional references (one from a supervisor or higher) required at presentation.
Working Hours
Must be available Monday–Friday with optional weekend coverage.
Facility allows weekend double shifts but not consecutive weekday 24-hour shifts.
Call ratio: 1:5, schedule released 1–2 months in advance.
Skills
Skilled in surgical and laparoscopic gynecology procedures.
Proficiency in fetal monitoring and emergency response.
Strong communication and teamwork in high-acuity hospital environments.
