Indiana University Health is seeking Board-Certified or Board-Eligible OB/GYN Physicians for locum tenens coverage at IU Health North Hospital and IU Health Fishers Hospital. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a collaborative OB/GYN team in a high-volume, high-acuity system with flexible shift options to fit your preferred schedule.

Location

  • IU Health North Hospital – Carmel, IN

  • IU Health Fishers Hospital – Fishers, IN

  • Nearest Airport: Indianapolis International (IND)

Assignment Details

  • Start Date: December 1, 2025

  • Duration: Ongoing

  • Reason for Coverage: Department restructuring

  • Coverage Type: Scheduled Clinical Hours + Call

  • Practice Setting: Inpatient & Outpatient

  • EMR: Cerner

  • Estimated Credentialing Timeframe: ~90 days

  • Trauma Level: I | NICU Level: III

  • Average Patients per Shift: 16–18

  • Annual Deliveries: ~2,000

Shift Options

Option 1 – Ambulatory/Clinic Only (8a–4p)

  • Outpatient OB/GYN clinic coverage only

  • See a variety of obstetric and gynecologic patients

  • Perform in-office procedures such as:

    • IUD/Nexplanon insertion & removal

    • Colposcopy

    • Endometrial biopsy

    • NST evaluation

  • Strong nursing and MA support

Option 2 – Full-Scope Generalist / Clinic + Call (7a–7a)

  • Postpartum rounding begins at 7a

  • Clinic from 9a–4p, then sign out to laborist and take pager call overnight until 7a

  • Must be comfortable with full-scope OB/GYN including:

    • Low & high-risk pregnancies

    • Routine and complicated deliveries (including VBACs, breech, and multiple births)

    • Decision-making for and performance of C-sections

    • Management of acute obstetric emergencies (e.g., abruptions)

    • Emergent GYN surgical procedures:

      • Suction D&C

      • Laparoscopic salpingectomy for ectopic pregnancy

      • Laparoscopic cystectomy/oophorectomy

      • ER consultations

  • Collaborate with inpatient laborist team and L&D nurses

  • Level III NICU and 24/7 anesthesia and surgical support

Support Staff

  • RNs: 1

  • MAs: 1–2

  • APPs: 2

  • Office Staff: 15

  • No resident or APP supervision required

Requirements

  • Licensure: Indiana or IMLC Eligible

  • Certifications: BLS Required

  • Board Status: BC/BE in Obstetrics & Gynecology
