Sumo Medical Staffing is recruiting for an experienced Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospitalist/Physician to work locum shifts in Christiansburg Virginia (VA). Starting February 2026, the role offers ongoing work with a competitive market rate and benefits.
The Obstetrics and Gynecology role:
- Hospitalists to Provide GYN Coverage: No
- Backup Available to the Hospitalists: Yes
- Other OB’s, General Surgery, ER Dr’s
- Total Hospital Deliveries (monthly avg.): 72
- MFM: Yes, but not on site
- In-house Anesthesia: Yes 24/7
- Anticipated OBHG deliveries – Unassigned patients vs Private patients: 600 assigned + 40 unassigned patients.
- Current L&D coverage model: 1 Laborist inhouse, the privates do some schedule and of their own patients.
- NICU level: It is my understanding that they don’t have a Neonatal Unit onsite, but the mothership hospital has Level 3B. They do have 10 newborn bassinets, 10 LDRP’s
- Gyn responsibilities: Just emergent
- Additional License Requirements: EFM Certification
- EMR: Epic
Requirements of the Obstetrics and Gynecology role:
- VA state license; active, unrestricted
- Board certified OBGYN
- VA State DEA
- BLS, ACLS
- Covid Vaccination- Required or Medical Exemption
- 100 deliveries in past 24 months no assisted, but preformed
- 25 GYN Cases in the last 12 months
