Coverage Details:
• Coverage needed per month: 4x10hr days in family practice clinic, with 15 days on/15 days off per month of 24hr coverage (to include weekends), typically the first two weeks of the month.
- Tuesday/Thursday: in Rural Care Clinic.
- Monday/Wednesday: in OB clinic
- Call coverage is expected while provider is staffing in primary care clinic (both areas are in the same facility).
• Frequency of any Call needed: 15-16x 24hr call shifts per month
• Schedule Details: 4x 10hr days; 40hr clinic week paid with 36hrs of direct patient care expected (combination of FP and OB patients)
Work Details:
• Open to BC OB-G, not just FP/OB.
• Department Description:
- Family Practice Clinic: Admit, evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to [patients of all ages / adolescent and adult patients], with a wide variety of illnesses, diseases, injuries, and functional disorders of the circulatory, respiratory, endocrine, metabolic, musculoskeletal, hematopoietic, gastroenteric, integumentary, nervous, female reproductive and genitourinary systems.
- OB: Admit, evaluate, and manage female patients with normal term pregnancy, with an expectation of non-complicated vaginal delivery, management of labor and delivery, and procedures related to normal deliveries, including medical diseases that are complicating factors in pregnancy (with consultation).
• Patient Volume: 18 patients per day; 2 patients per hour, typically. Can see an average of 70 deliveries per year (5-7/month). Seven beds in a dedicated OB unit. Any high risk deliveries are transferred to Albuquerque. 2 days in family practice per week, 2 days in OB, 1 flex day for both OB/FP as needed.

• Special Procedures/Unit Details:
- OB: Amniotomy, Augmentation of labor and postpartum care, C-section, Care for mild pregnancy induced hypertension, Dilation and curettage, including suction and postpartum, Excision of vulvar lesions at delivery, External and Internal fetal monitoring, Induction of labor and Pitocin management, Investigative OB ultrasound for presentation only , Low forceps delivery (outlet forceps), Management of prenatal and postpartum care, Management of uncomplicated labor, Manual removal of placenta, post-delivery, Multiple gestation delivery, Normal spontaneous vaginal delivery or a term vertex presentation, including antepartum and postpartum care/emergency and non-emergency delivery, Oxytocin challenge test, Postpartum hemorrhage, Pudendal anesthesia, Removable of foreign body from vagina, Repair of episiotomy, first and second degree, Repair of vagina and cervical lacerations, Vacuum assisted delivery, Vacuum extractions
- Family Practice: Perform history and physical exam, Abdominal paracentesis, Assist at surgery, Breast cyst aspiration, Excision of cutaneous and subcutaneous lesions, tumors, and nodules, I & D abscess, Local anesthetic techniques, Manage uncomplicated minor closed fractures and uncomplicated dislocations, Management of burns, superficial and partial thickness, Needle biopsies, Perform simple skin biopsy, Peripheral nerve blocks, Placement of anterior and posterior nasal hemostatic packing, Remove non-penetrating foreign body from the eye, nose, or ear, Suprapubic bladder aspiration, Suture uncomplicated lacerations, Arthrocentesis and joint injections, Circumcision
Requirements:
• Board Certifications Req’d: ACGME or AOA or board eligible in Family Medicine, Board certified in Obstetrics
• State License(s) / IMLC Req’d?: NM
• Certifications Req’d?: ACLS, BLS, PALS required. NRP is preferred.
• Specific Skills Req’d?: Must be able to perform C-sections
