Clinical Details

• Inpatient
• Patients per shift: 9 max scheduled cases/day (not including unscheduled patients who are admitted)
  • 6 Day, 3 Night
• Beds in department: 12 LDR + 3 Low intervention rooms (midwifery)
• Rounding patients: assigned and unassigned
• Stroke certified facility
• Trauma level 1
• PEDs level 2
• Average number of deliveries per year: 2500
• Not fully a true laborist job, some gyn coverage is provided on occasion
• The Generalist OB group will be taking call for their private patients
• Cover inpatient OB as well as inpatient GYN consults on the floor and in the ER

Requirements

• Board Certified with ABOG
• ACLS, ATLS, BLS

Support Staff

• Days average 7-9 floor nurses (plus 1 charge, 2 triage RN's)
• Nights average 5-6 floor nurses (plus 1 charge, 2 triage RN's)
• These drop by about 1-2 nurses on the weekend due to lower case-load
• 4 midwives that care for patients - collaborate with physicians with increased in level of care situations
