Position Overview:
GhostRx is seeking a Board-Certified Nuclear Medicine Physician to provide high-quality diagnostic imaging services to veterans at the Lexington Kentucky VA Health Care System. This is an on-site role requiring expertise in Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT imaging, with a commitment to excellence in patient care, clinical accuracy, and adherence to established radiologic standards.
- Key Responsibilities:

Deliver on-site diagnostic Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT services in accordance with the clinical standards of the Department of Veterans Affairs and the American College of Radiology (ACR).

Interpret a variety of imaging studies, contributing to the broader Radiology Department’s efforts, including Abdominal/GU, Cardiovascular, Interventional, Musculoskeletal, Neuroradiology, and General Radiology services as qualified.

Collaborate with referring providers and healthcare staff to ensure timely, accurate imaging interpretations and reports.

Participate in peer review, quality assurance, and continuous improvement processes aligned with VA policies.

Maintain detailed documentation in the VA’s electronic health record system.
Qualifications:

Board Certification in Nuclear Medicine (ABNM or equivalent recognized by ACR).

Additional certifications in Radiology subspecialties (e.g., Neuroradiology, Musculoskeletal, etc.) are preferred but not required.

Active, unrestricted medical license in a U.S. state or territory.

Prior experience working in a VA or similar government healthcare environment is a plus.

Must meet all eligibility requirements for access to VA systems and facilities, including background checks.

Job Responsibilities
Start Date: Upon completion of credentialing (target award: April 1, 2025).
End Date: March 31, 2026, with a possible 6-month extension.
Current Onsite Nuclear Medicine Physicians: 0
Department Support Staff: Technologists, nurses, and a physician assistant.
Nuclear Medicine Scope of Services
The Nuclear Medicine Physician will perform a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including:
PET Scans: Neurology, Oncology, PSMA, NET Imaging, Infection, Cardiac.
SPECT Scans: Planar and dynamic scans for neurology, cardiology, endocrine, GI, skeletal, pulmonary, CNS, and GU systems.
Radioisotope Therapies: I-131 ablation, hyperthyroid therapy, Xofigo, Pluvicto, Lutathera.
Supervision: Clinical supervision of Nuclear Medicine Technologists; oversight for radiopharmaceuticals requiring Authorized User (AU) credentials (e.g., Pluvicto, I-131).
Imaging Equipment Includes:
GE Optima SPECT/CT
GE Discovery PET/CT
The facility is fully licensed for radiopharmaceutical handling and therapy administration and supported by nuclear medicine technologists and a consulting physicist.
Radiology Department Overview
The contractor will support a full-service Radiology Department, offering:
Abdominal/GU
Breast Imaging
Cardiovascular
General Radiology
Interventional Radiology
Musculoskeletal
Neuroradiology
Nuclear Medicine
PET/CT
All services must comply with American College of Radiology (ACR) guidelines and standards.
Workload Expectations
Diagnostic Imaging Volume: ~27 RVUs per day.
Interventional Procedures: 2–3 procedures per day on average.
Interventional Modalities Include:
CT-guided biopsies and drain placements
Angio-guided procedures (e.g., nephrostomy, biliary interventions, PICC lines)
Ultrasound-guided procedures (e.g., thyroid biopsy, paracentesis, thoracentesis)
Diagnostic Modalities: X-ray, fluoroscopy, CT, MRI, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, PET/CT
Qualifications
