Job description
A full-time permanent Nocturnist opportunity is available in Troy, joining an established and directly employed hospital medicine program at Samaritan Hospital.
This is a physician-friendly environment offering strong system support, collaborative colleagues, and a structured 7-on/7-off nocturnist schedule. The ICU operates under a closed ICU model, with ICU providers managing ICU patients. Nocturnists are responsible for running rapids and codes but are not required to perform procedures.
Both experienced physicians and upcoming 2026 graduates working toward board certification are encouraged to apply.
Not accepting locums candidates. Not open to visa sponsorship.
Job Responsibilities
• Manage an average census of 15–18 patients per shift
• Run rapid response and code events
• Collaborate with ICU team (ICU providers manage ICU patients)
• Coordinate care with APPs and multidisciplinary teams
• Deliver high-quality inpatient medical care
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation
Qualifications
• Active New York medical license (or willingness to obtain)
• DEA (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
• Clean malpractice and license history preferred
• NPDB Self-Query (within 30 days at presentation)
• Candidates with lapsed board certification will not be accepted
• Must reside more than 30 miles from the facility
