Job description Reason for Need: Locum coverage needed while team recruits a full-time permanent NeuroSurgery MD/DO.

Opportunity Start Date: 01 June 2026

Assignment Dates: 01 June – 31 December 2026

Candidate Requirements:
  • Candidate must possess an ACTIVE VA license, unless otherwise stated.
  • Candidate current CV
  • Complete SMG Locum screening form
  • Candidate MUST board certified. Include copy of online verification from web portal
  • Virginia DEA is required. If DEA is not currently registered in VA, please list intention to acquire DEA such as changing address of current DEA or purchasing an additional DEA.
  • Specify Travel needs: Flight, lodging (Hotel or other accommodation) and / or rental car, etc.
  • Candidates must have completed YOUR locum credentialing/vetting process.
  • ALL Malpractice claims must be disclosed. (to include dismissed claims)
  • Explanation required for any employment termination
  • Time Gaps 30 days and greater (include date range and explanation separate attachment)
  • Any other potential RED FLAGS
  • Restrictive procedures/ clinical limitations
  • Local candidates will be given first consideration.
  • When presenting candidates please include ALL Pay Rates

HOURS: 0700 Monday – 0700 Monday / 24 hr. shift

CALL:
0700 – 0700 24 hr call coverage
ORs: • Number of OR’s:

CASELOAD:
  • Daily Caseload: # 2
  • Weekend Average # of callbacks: 2
  • Weekend Average # of admissions: 2-3
  • Weeknight Average # of callbacks: 5 calls/ day
  • Weeknight average # of admissions: 2 to 3 per week

  • Minor cranial work

ADDITONAL INFORMATION • Candidate must possess a VA License
  • Candidate must possess a DEA with a Virginia Address
  • EMR: EPIC proficient preferred
  • Current Staff: 0 Provider staff. Full office support staff. Building a new program.
