Berlin, NH | Outpatient-Focused | No Call | 6–12 Months
North Country Healthcare is seeking ONE General Neurologist for a long-term locum tenens assignment, with the strong possibility of future ongoing needs.
IMPORTANT: Candidates must be currently performing and independently interpreting EMGs (without a technician). This is a firm requirement.
Assignment Overview

Contract Length: 6 months (with potential extension to 12 months+)

Likely 2–3 weeks per month, ideally consecutive

Schedule:

Monday–Friday | 8:00a–5:00p (1-hour lunch, 12–1p)

No call
-
No overtime unless pre-approved

Hours: 40 hours/week

Setting: Primarily outpatient with occasional inpatient consults

EMR: Meditech Expanse
Practice Locations
-
3–4 days/week: Androscoggin Valley Hospital (AVH) – Berlin, NH

1–2 days/week: Outreach clinics at:

Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital (Colebrook, NH) and/or
-
North Conway, NH
-

Travel: Approximately 20%
Clinical Responsibilities
-
Office-based general neurology for new and established patients
-
Medication management, patient/family education, and counseling
-
Ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies
-
Coordination with PCPs and referrals to subspecialists as needed
-
Collaboration with a multidisciplinary neurology care team
Common Diagnoses Include:
-
Migraine & headache disorders
-
Memory loss & cognitive impairment
-
Parkinson’s disease & essential tremor
-
Epilepsy & multiple sclerosis
-
Dizziness & polyneuropathy
Patient Volume & Workflow
-
12–16 patients per day
-
Typically 2–4 new patients daily
-
Initial appointment durations: 40–60 minutes for onboarding
-
After 2–4 weeks:
-
New patients: 60 minutes
-
Established patients: 20 minutes
-
Required Qualifications
-
MD or DO
-
Actively performing and independently interpreting NCS/EMG studies
-
Ability to interpret EEGs (strongly preferred)
-
Willing and able to obtain a New Hampshire permanent license quickly
-
Full payer enrollment required
-
Comfortable practicing solo in a rural hospital setting

English fluency (native or bilingual)
Preferred Experience
-
2–5+ years of broad general neurology experience preferred
-
Select new graduates may be considered
-
Prior experience in a small hospital or Critical Access Hospital preferred
-
Botox injection experience highly desirable
-
Team-oriented, collaborative, and patient-focused approach
