**Neurology Opening - Mason City, Iowa** **Position Details** - Full-time, permanent - Join the team of 1 Neurologist and 2 Advanced Practice Providers - Reason for opening: shortage of neurology physicians (1 currently) - Small outpatient clinic about 6 patients per day - Faculty opportunity also available - Teaching opportunity for Internal Medicine and Family Medicine Residents and medical students - Primary Stroke Center - 2020 "Get with the Guidelines"- Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award Recipient - Inpatient/Outpatient split - All surgical procedures available, except transplants; limited pediatrics; support OB, Cath Lab, and ED. - Required neurology procedure: Brain Death exam - Sub-specialty interest in EEG, EMG, Epilepsy, Sleep, MS, and Movement Disorders welcome in the context of general Neurology - Participate in Grand Rounds - Non-burdensome call - possibly unrestricted night call during that time (does not need to stay in house, but must be within 30 min response time) - 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off (Sun-Sat), 10-hour days (potentially 8-hour days, but TBD) - 2-4 new patient consults per day - 6-8 patients total daily on average (new consults and follow-ups included) - Take all neurology inpatient/ED/network consult requests - Teaching expectation (will likely have IM/FM resident accompanying them) - 50% over age 65; 32% age 45-64; 17% age 19-44 (Pediatrics is possible but very infrequent, most common consult diagnosis is seizures) - 1 nursing support on staff - Lab onsite - X-ray on site - EMR: Cerner - Level III Trauma - 8-10 weeks credentialing timeframe - Physician support before, during, and after each procedure **Compensation and Benefits:** - Base salary 325K - Sign on bonus: up to 100K - 30K loan repayment/year - 34 days off annually - Premium paid health insurance - Short- term and long-term disability - Professional liability - 4K for CME - 34 days of time off, annually - Employer sponsored professional liability insurance & tail insurance coverage - Health, dental, vision and life insurance - Short-term and long-term disability coverage - 403(b) retirement program with employer contribution and employer matching; Optional 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan - Cost of Living for area is 24% lower than national average **About the Group** - 346 Bed - Conducts a Family Medicine Residency, Internal Medicine Residency, Cardiology Fellowship, Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship, PGY1 Pharmacy Residency and a School of Radiologic Technology. - Clinical training site for approximately 500 students from 127 different colleges enrolled in programs for medical laboratory, nursing, paramedic, rehabilitation, medical assistants, pastoral services, physicians and many other medical fields. **About the Community:** - Rich in history and heavy on charm, the north Iowa area offers big city excitement blended with small town hospitality. - Some of the most diverse amenities and economic environments in the Midwest can be found here. - The region serves as the commercial, industrial, retail, recreation and employment hub. - The area benefits from a strong economy, built on a foundation of homegrown businesses and large international firms. - Residents in the area adore the small-town atmosphere affordable housing and caring neighborhoods without sacrificing important assets. - Theres no other place but here Mason City offers award-winning attractions, fabulous shopping, a progressive educational system and top-tier quality of life. - Mason City is conveniently located only two hours from Minneapolis/St. Paul. - The communities located within the area offer diverse, beautiful places to visit paired with engaging historical and cultural experiences. - Home to last hotel designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, and the Rock Crest/Rock Glenn neighborhood, people from all around the world visit North Iowa for the blocks of unique architectural design. - Embark on the adventure of a lifetime in north Iowa. - Whether youre looking for thrill or relaxation, this area has it all. - Spend the day on the lake with a short commute to Clear Lake, or enjoy the diverse, one-of-a-kind eateries. - Commute times are short, prices are reasonable, and the people are friendly and welcoming.
