Practice nephrology in Honolulu, Hawaii — one of the most desirable locations in the United States for a locum tenens assignment.
One of our Partners is seeking a Board-Certified Nephrologist to provide full-time nephrology coverage in Honolulu, offering physicians the opportunity to combine meaningful clinical work with the lifestyle and natural beauty of Hawaii.
This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced nephrologists while caring for a large dialysis population across multiple dialysis clinics.
Physicians will manage approximately 750 dialysis patients located across several dialysis units, performing regular dialysis rounds while also providing outpatient nephrology care and inpatient consultations.
The schedule provides strong work-life balance with Monday–Friday daytime hours, with shared call coverage among a team of six nephrologists.

Assignment Highlights
• Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Coverage Type: Full-Time Only
Dialysis Population
• Manage approximately 750 dialysis patients across multiple dialysis clinics
• Dialysis unit rounds performed multiple times weekly
Clinic Structure
• New Consultations: 60 minutes
• Follow-Up Visits: 30 minutes
• Average Clinic Volume: 12–14 patients per day
Hospital Responsibilities
• Provide inpatient nephrology consultations
• Collaborate with hospitalists and specialty teams
Call Structure
• Shared call with 6 nephrologists
• Call rotation: Friday noon – Friday noon
Night call coverage handled by a different nephrologist from 5 PM – 7 AM
Clinical Scope
• Chronic kidney disease management
• Dialysis patient care
• Pre- and post-transplant management
• Inpatient nephrology consultations

Job Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive nephrology care for adult patients
• Manage dialysis patients across dialysis clinics
• Perform dialysis unit rounds several times weekly
• Provide inpatient nephrology consultations
• Manage chronic kidney disease progression and complications
• Coordinate care with multidisciplinary specialty teams
• Provide transplant-related nephrology management
• Maintain accurate documentation in the facility EMR
Skills & Experience
• MD or DO required
• Board Certified in Nephrology
• Graduate of an accredited medical school or ECFMG certification
• Active Hawaii Medical License required prior to submission
(IMLCC not accepted)
• Minimum 2–5 years post fellowship experience
• Must practice evidence-based medicine
Preferred
