Job description We are seeking a board-certified Nephrologist for a 72-day locum tenens assignment in California, starting Feb 16, 2026. This opportunity features a rotating schedule of clinic and inpatient shifts, with typical hours from 8:30am to 5:30pm and potential for extension. The role involves providing comprehensive nephrology care in both outpatient and inpatient settings, supported by dedicated kidney nurses and full hospitalist, IR, and surgical backup. This assignment utilizes the Epic EMR system.

  • Provider Type Needed: Nephrologist
  • Schedule: Alternating clinic (Monday-Friday, 8:30am–5:30pm) and inpatient weeks (Monday-Sunday, 8:30am–5:30pm). Scheduled blocks: 2/16–3/1, 3/16–3/29, 4/20–5/3, 5/18–5/31, 6/29–7/12, 8/3–8/16.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Provide consultative nephrology care for both outpatient clinic and inpatient settings
  • Manage a broad spectrum of nephrology cases including CKD, hypertension, glomerular diseases, and more
  • Oversee an average of 13 clinic patients per day in the outpatient setting
  • Participate in inpatient call for approximately 15–20 patients, with backup available for higher volumes
  • Collaborate closely with hospitalists, IR, and surgery teams; hospitalists manage admissions and discharges
  • Supervise and collaborate with dedicated kidney RN and nursing staff for CKD and dialysis patient management
  • Conduct monthly rounds on dialysis patients in partnership with contracted dialysis vendors
  • Utilize Epic EMR for all documentation and patient management

Additional Information
  • Must be board-certified in Nephrology
  • California medical license required
  • Comfortable with all outpatient nephrology cases
  • High likelihood of contract extension
