Job description Locums Neonatologist Location: Southfield, Michigan Position Overview
  • Specialty: Neonatology (Locums)
  • Reason for Coverage: Resignation of an existing neonatologist
  • Facility Trauma Level: Level III
  • NICU Size: 15-bed NICU
  • EMR: Cerner / eCare / PowerChart
Dates & Availability
  • Coverage Dates: March 24, 2026 – December 31, 2026
  • Shifts per Month: 4–6 shifts
  • Schedule:
    • 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
    • In-house overnight call
Patient & Clinical Volume
  • Average Admissions per Day: 0–4
  • Average Census per Shift: 12 patients
  • C-Section Attendance: Required
  • Level I (Well-Baby) Nursery Coverage: Not required
  • Neonatal Transfers: Required
Coverage Model & Staffing
  • Neonatology Group Composition:
    • 3 Full-Time Neonatologists
    • 2 Part-Time Neonatologists
    • 4 Contingent Providers
Required Licenses & Certifications (Must Haves)
  • Board Status:
    • Board Certified or truly Board Eligible in Neonatology (required)
  • State License:
    • Active Michigan medical license in hand (no licensing in process accepted)
  • Training:
    • Fellowship-trained in Neonatology (required)
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (required)
    • NRP (required)
    • ACLS (required)
  • Other Requirements:
    • Local provider only
