Locums Neonatology Physician

We are seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Neonatology Physician for locum tenens coverage at a 366-bed hospital in Waterloo, IA. This patient-focused facility offers advanced healthcare services and supports a Level III NICU with a collaborative care team. The role includes inpatient neonatal care and 24-hour call coverage.

Schedule & Coverage Details:

• Up to 16 shifts per month
• Shift length: 24-hour shifts
• Patient contact: Approximately 8 hours per shift
• Call: 24-hour call coverage
• Weekends: As needed

Practice Details:

• NICU: 10-bed Level III NICU (capacity up to 12 infants short-term)
• Average Daily Census (ADC): 6.3 patients
• Patient Population: Neonates ≥28 weeks gestation
  • Infants <28 weeks are stabilized and transferred to higher-level care
• Inpatient responsibilities only
• EMR: Epic
• 366-bed hospital with a strong commitment to patient-centered care

Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive inpatient neonatal care in the NICU
• Manage and coordinate care for neonatal patients in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Respond to neonatal consults and provide on-call coverage
• Ensure timely and accurate documentation in Epic

Requirements:

• Board Certified or Truly Board Eligible in Neonatology
• Fellowship trained in Neonatology
• Active Iowa medical license or active IMLC
  • Letter of Qualification (LOQ) required at time of name clear
• Ability to provide independent neonatal care in a Level III NICU setting
