As a Locum Physician in Maternal Fetal Medicine, you will play a vital role in supporting high-risk pregnancies and contributing to patient outcomes during a key recruitment period. This position offers a dynamic work environment with varied shifts, allowing you to make a meaningful impact while advancing your professional experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive OB-GYN care with a focus on high-risk pregnancies (95%)
- Perform specialized procedures including amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, and cervical cerclage (preferred)
- Manage complex maternal and fetal conditions such as pre-eclampsia, growth restriction, genetic and congenital anomalies, and pre-term labor
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including RN clinic educators, sonographers, genetic counselors, and support staff
- Utilize EMR systems (EPIC, Viewpoint) for accurate documentation and patient management
- Provide supervision and oversight for high-risk cases within the clinic setting
Required Skills:
- Board-certified or eligible in Maternal Fetal Medicine or Obstetrics and Gynecology
- Proven expertise in high-risk pregnancy management and fetal procedures
- Proficiency in ultrasound imaging, amniocentesis, and chorionic villus sampling
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a varied shift schedule within a fast-paced environment
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience with cerclage procedures
- Knowledge of genetic and fetal abnormality screening
- Background in inpatient and outpatient care settings
Preferred Education and Experience:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
- Active medical license in Virginia or eligible for licensure
- At least 2 years of maternal-fetal medicine experience preferred
- Familiarity with EPIC EMR system and hospital-based delivery support
Other Requirements:
- Credentialing estimated within 90 days
- Willingness to provide coverage during varied shifts, including night and weekend calls
- Reimbursement for travel, lodging, and transportation expenses as applicable
- Commitment to delivering high-quality, high-risk pregnancy care in a supportive environment
