This locum tenens Neonatology position offers $2,800 per 24-hour call, comprehensive malpractice coverage, and complimentary lodging—making it an excellent opportunity for specialists seeking consistency and meaningful work in a well-supported environment.
This recurring assignment requires ongoing coverage starting January 11–20 (ending the 21st AM) every month, making it ideal for providers looking for a predictable schedule with strong continuity. You will round once daily in the NICU, respond to nursing calls, and go onsite as patient conditions require. (No newborn nursery rounding—peds hospitalists cover that.)

💰 Compensation & Rate Structure

24-Hour Call: $2,800 (includes 8 gratis hours)

Holiday 24-Hour Call: $4000 (includes 8 gratis hours)

Call Back: $240/hr (after gratis hours)

Holiday Call Back: $350/hr (after gratis hours)

🩺 Clinical Requirements
You’ll manage advanced neonatal pathology and interventions, such as:

Ventilatory support including ETT CPAP
-
Nasal CPAP >4 hrs or >6 cm H₂O
-
Surfactant administration (beyond initial dose)

Pressor administration
-
Management of FiO₂ >0.60
-
A-line / central line placement
-
Chest tube management
-
TPN hyperalimentation
-
Exchange transfusion
-
Gestational age <32 weeks
-
Birth weight <1600 g
Daily Census: 7–12 NICU patients
EMR: Cerner Care B
Support Team: NICU nurses, FP residents, Laborists, Pediatric Hospitalists
(No APP support)
✅ Submission Requirements

Board Certified/Eligible in Neonatal/Perinatal Medicine

Active CA license
-
BLS, NRP, DEA
-
Listed as a paneled provider with California Children’s Services (CCS)

Recent, substantial Neonatology experience (not general pediatrics)

Clean background & malpractice
