Job Description – Neonatologist (PRN/Holiday Coverage)
Specialty: Neonatology – Level III NICU
Location: Rockville, MD
Start Date: November 17, 2025
Contract Length: ~2 months, with possible extension
Schedule & Coverage

PRN coverage, focused on the last 2 weeks of December

12- or 24-hour shifts (days, nights, weekends; flexible)
-
No call responsibilities
-
~20–30 shifts per month across two facilities
Work Environment
-
Level III NICU, census 22–24
-
Two neonatologists days / one neonatologist nights
-
~3,500 deliveries annually
-
High frequency ventilation + nitric oxide use
-
Some simple neonatal surgeries (e.g., hernia repair)

EMR: Cerner
Requirements
-
Board Certified in Neonatology
-
Active Maryland medical license (not accepting IMLC)
-
Minimum 2 years of Level III NICU experience (within last 3 years)

NRP, BLS, DEA required

Proficient in intubations, umbilical lines, resuscitation
Credentialing & Process

Credentialing timeframe: 60–90 days

Interview: With Chief of Regional Based Specialties

Decision process: References checked within 48 hrs, offer typically extended within 72 hrs post-interview
