Job Title: Locum – Physician – Neonatology
Location: Richmond, Virginia
Opportunity Details:
We are seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Neonatologist for a locum tenens assignment in a Level III NICU at a well-established facility in Richmond, VA. This is a time-sensitive need with shifts beginning in late July 2025. Providers with a clean file and active VA license/DEA are encouraged to apply immediately for expedited credentialing.

NICU Bed Size: 40 beds

Average Daily Census: NICU 4.3; NBN 24.2

Annual Deliveries: ~4,256 (2024)
Clinical Duties Include:
-
High-frequency ventilation (HFOV and HFJV)
-
Inhaled nitric oxide administration
-
Managing pediatric surgical patients
-
Therapeutic hypothermia with aEEG
-
Coordination with pediatricians covering well babies
Schedule:
-
24/7 in-house model
-
Day Shift: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM (2 physicians)
-
Night Shift: 5:00 PM – 7:30 AM (1 physician, with 30-min overlap for sign-out)

No on-call coverage required
Support & Back-Up:
-
On-site Pediatric Surgery and Cardiology
-
No ECMO or cardiac surgery (except PDA ligations)

Support from VCU subspecialists
EMR: PermiEHR and Meditech
Credentialing Requirements:

VA License and DEA – Required at Submission

Must Have a Clean Malpractice and Background History
Required Certifications:

Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neonatology

PALS, NRP, and ACLS – Required
